As part of an event organized by the Department of English Language Teaching, Dilek Livaneli—United Nations Education Ambassador and the first Turkish teacher-author to be recognized among the Top 50 teachers in the world by the Global Teacher Prize—met with our students at Marmara University on May 14, 2026.
In her talk, "One Wish Is Not Enough: An Inspiring Journey from a Village School Teacher to a Global Educator," Dilek Livaneli shared her professional journey and reflected on educational equity, the transformative power of the teaching profession, and her experiences in international educational initiatives. Through her inspiring presentation, she reminded our future teachers that teaching is not merely about imparting knowledge, but also about fostering hope, perseverance, and positive social change.
During the Q&A session, Dilek Livaneli warmly responded to our students' questions and offered valuable advice on both their professional and personal development as future educators. At the end of the event, participants received her book, One Wish Is Not Enough.
